Lasting Unity

Hi, dear family~ Today is my daughter and son-in-law’s sixth wedding anniversary! Sooo proud of them!!! I still remember that day, being the mother of the bride and I chuckle as I go into the church where there wedding was held and still see some of the leftover Christmas decorations that we donated after the wedding. I remember praying for my daughter when she was just a baby that she would grow up to marry a believer in Christ Jesus. She did! I am sooo thankful for my son-in-law! As I ponder their lives together and I think of him loving my daughter, I think of our Father’s heart for husbands and how they are to love their wives:

“Husbands love your wives as Christ loved the church and gave Himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless. In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself.”

In the Garden of Eden, Jesus called man and woman to be one flesh in personal relationship with Christ. As a leader, a man should seek Jesus and draw his wife with him, considering her heart, in love and in unity to Christ. That is the heart of Christ for us as His bride (His church) as well. He desires that we be one in unity with Him in a love relationship with all our heart, soul, mind and strength. Unity is a special gift and important in carrying out our Father’s best for us. He loves us with perfect unfailing, unconditional love as He IS love. Imagine a body with each part going its own way away from each other as you are trying to walk or reach out into life. YIKES!!! If you weren’t attached well, you would split apart. Christ brings unity!!! He says this about Himself:

“He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together. And He is the head of the body, the church…”

This Christmas, ponder these things in heart and Christ’s desire for unity. How is He calling you to unity? How about lighting a unity candle – a beautiful reminder to pray for the beautiful heart of Jesus that desires for us all to be one in Him as His beloved bride and family of God. Jesus, the Son, the Holy Spirit and God the Father are One God and they are perfect love and grace to us all. Blessed are we all to have their love and guidance for a beautiful everlasting life!!!
