Here in Idaho, we are working on the last half of the gift of today – of 24 hours of the sweet grace of Jesus! Praise Him for His faithfulness to us!!!!!!! My Father asks me to ask you as I ponder tonight to consider being a copy cat. Say what, Sheila? You are always saying being YOU like nobody else can. Well, yes, that is still true! However, what I am talking about is being this kind of an imitator:
“Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave Himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.”
As we ponder that whooper of a request from our Father (I say whooper because who can be His perfect good standard – triple YIKES!!!), I ask you what Father doesn’t want their child to grow up being an imitator of God, feeling loved and loving others sacrificially. Probably all, I would say. The first reflection that a child usually gets of the heavenly Father is their earthly father. What a great opportunity a father who has a child has to teach them about Jesus and set an example for them to follow in life. Now before everybody gasps for air and gets all scared, let me remind us that our Father IS love and full of grace, so what better opportunity in life is there than to be yourself seeking God the best you can to show your children all about how awesome our Father is, by letting you see living out Christ in your everyday life and helping your child see our Father’s wisdom, love and sweet grace when we need it which is every single moment of every single day as this song shows here! We need our Father’s Spirit in us to live the Christian life and through our faith, He will provide what is needed to carry out His will, His plan and His purpose which is this:
“My grace is sufficient for you, my power is made perfect in weakness. Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly about my weakness, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.”
2 Corinthians 12:9-10
I encourage you to rest in our Father’s grace to enable you as His child to live the Christian life and in the effort of being an example to others, remember to model the example of being a recipient of His great gift of love and grace. That is what the Gospel is all about and if people never understand what sin is, how do they ever see their need for a Savior.
Point others to the need for Christ!!!
Much love and grace and peace to you as you rest tonight wherever you are, knowing you are fully accepted, loved with unfailing, unconditional love and through your faith in Christ, seen as holy, without blemish and without accusation or condemnation! Now that is Good News to talk to others about right there!!!
