Hanging on to what is dear to us – it is something that we learn at a very early age!!! A young child quickly learns that when it is hungry, it loves its bottle of milk. Security can be found in a blanket, a pacifier, a thumb or the arms of its family. I chuckle as I recall when my daughter was small, she really liked the feel of my silk nightgown and when she wanted to start packing my nightgown all around with her, I decided that I needed to buy her her own dolly and make it a nightgown. The dolly was named Lucy and she went to sleep holding onto her lucy doll, feeling her nightgown, along with her pacifier that we called binky and by the way, it was such that we better not ever lose it or we had trouble on our hands and also being covered by her favorite blue blanket that had a unicorn on it!!! 🙂 Well today at thirty years old, she has been able to successfully give up those things and is able to go to sleep without them. YYYEEESSS!!! Progress was made in time!!! I am thankful she has found Jesus and the love of others Father has put into her life to help her do life well. Our Father does not desire us to do life without Him or without healthy relationships in our lives!!! Bless him!!! Studies have revealed that babies that do not receive the love they need do not thrive well. Jesus understands their hearts and He wants to extend them His divine life first of all and then surround them with people who can share His divine love with them within appropriate boundaries and guidelines as well. He shares these guidelines with us in His Word (the Bible).
Oh how we can all become attached to things and people in this life and a good example of that was Abraham who waited a long time to have a son and when he did, our Father knew that it was possible that Abraham could fall in love with his son so much that he may be tempted to put his son before His love for his Father. Therefore, the Lord tested Abraham’s heart by asking Abraham to offer up to Him his very son that by the way is pointing to what God did in sending His Son into the world for the purpose of going to the cross to rescue all people from the wages of sin that was death and eternal separation from God. Abraham passed the test and the Lord provided a ram for a burnt offering sacrifice in place of Abraham’s son so that Abraham and Isaac, even though they didn’t know where the Lord would lead them, could continue thru life together in relationship with the Lord their God leading the way!!!
YAY!!! WAY TO GO FATHER ABRAHAM!!! YOU ROCKED AND SET A DIVINE EXAMPLE TO US IN LIFE OF HOW TO FOLLOW OUR FATHER WHO LOVES US TO LOVE HIM FIRST SO WE ALWAYS FIND THE DIVINE LIFE HE HAS FOR US!!! WHOOOP!!! WHOOOP!!! WHOOOP!!! OH THE DIVINE LIFE KEEPS US SMILING IN LIFE!!! WHY WOULD WE WANT TO MISS OUT ON THAT??? OH, NOT ME!!! I’M GOING WITH YOU TO THE LAND FLOWING WITH HIS MILK AND HONEY THAT WILL BE THE USHERING IN SOON OF HIS PARADISE LAND HE IS PREPARING FOR US!!! EVEN NOW, WE HAVE HIS SWEET SPIRIT WITH US AS WE JOURNEY THRU THIS EARTH!!! YYYIIIPPPEEE!!!
Letting go of things we love or are too attached to when we are called to is important, though. Sometimes we have a hard time setting up needed boundaries in life to get or keep what we love and it can only postpone the inevitable realization of truth. In these times, it is important to face the inevitable truth, embrace the sadness of it, let go of what we need to let go of and move on to being free in our relationship with Christ Jesus as our all wise, all loving Father.
Without letting our Father be first in our lives, our Father knows that we can end up getting hurt in life because nothing can take care of us or be to us what only our Father can be for us. If you are in a place of needing to let go of something in life, here are the steps to freedom in Christ Jesus:
- Admit the personal issue of lacking boundaries, being restrained in one’s own affections or fears and stuck on things that need to be let go of
- Fear avoids the setting of boundaries and robs us of freedom in Christ
- Seek the support of others to help you have courage to face boundaries and grief over the loss to you. You will need the love of God and others with you to break free.
- Give it a name. Who or what are you going to have to put on the altar of God to give it to God for freedom???
- Let go – we seek and we find freedom life when we let go of the old life. We can’t walk in the new until we have let go of the old life.
- Move on – Old life takes much energy and opens us up to abuse and control and less than the divine free life Jesus so desires for His kids of faith!!!
Oh, yikes, yikes, yikes can be the result of not putting Jesus in first place in our lives, dear ones!!! I’m a gal continuing to seek Father’s heart for me in the journey with you and trusting Him to bring His divine always for us!!!
This we can hold onto in journeying into the places that can be scary:
Father promises us as He told Joshua: “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
I sooo enjoy this song here that talks about how our Father will never leave us, but is always by our side!!! Oh that thought just makes me smile!!!
