Hi, everybody!!! Getting healthy spiritually is important to running the “cross” road of faith in Christ Jesus as our Savior!!! Today I want to begin sharing a series of some thoughts about how to be healthy spiritually as compared to an athlete in the world who runs a race in order to get a prize!!! It is amazing the similarities between the two, one being physical and the other being spiritual.
A wise athlete understands that good health is important to physically running well. A poor diet, dehydration, improper clothing, unwise habits, excessive baggage and bad mental outlooks greatly affect a runner’s health and ability to persevere successfully to the end. The same is true for a spiritual athlete running God’s road for their life. Let’s take a look at how a spiritual athlete prepares to run their road of life compared to the physical athlete. Here is the first comparison:
1) Physical Athlete Spiritual Athlete
Needs proper diet Deuteronomy 8:3 “Man does not
of food to obtain live on bread alone, but on every
vitamins & needed word that proceeds from the mouth
nutrients to have of God.”

is to do the will of Him who sent
me (the Father) and to finish His
Our Father loves us and desires to provide us all that we need for food for our bodies and food for our spirit, too. Both are essential for good health!!! The Bible is God’s Word or food for our souls.
Proverbs 4:20-22 says God’s Words are life to those who find them and health to a person’s whole body. “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness” (2 Timothy 3:16-17). Romans 12:2 tells us “Do not be conformed any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is – His good, pleasing and perfect will”. We need to renew our minds with God’s Word (Scripture) to know and do the will of God and finish His work for our lives. This is our spiritual food or nutrition!
