Good morning, dear family of faith!!! I’m a gal filled with the peace of Jesus because of His loving kindness and care for us as His people!!! WOOOHOOO!!! We have much to celebrate in Him today because He has forever rescued us from the enemy!!! To truly get a grasp on the magnitude of His grace gift extended to us, I share with you the fifth in the series of comparisons between a physical athlete running for victory and a spiritual athlete running for victory. WARNING!!! THESE THOUGHTS MAY BE HARD TO HEAR, BUT IT BRINGS THE REALITY OF WHAT CHRIST WENT THROUGH TO RESCUE US AND HOW THE ENEMY TODAY WOULD STILL LOVE TO TORMENT US IF WE CHOOSE TO LET HIM:
Excessive baggage or weight adds a burden that can slow you down or keep you from finishing the race.
Hebrews 12:1…“let us, throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.”
Satan or the devil is still working today!!! He knows our weaknesses and he works to deceive us, confuse us and turn us from God’s best. One of the ways that Satan works to get us to carry a backpack of weight and burden that will slow us down or even stop us in our running is through guilt. We can know our Father wants to set us free from the guilt that the enemy wants to put upon us as children of faith!!!
Here are some things to ponder to help us walk in Christ’s freedom for us through the power of His work on the cross:
Imagine that you are about to be punished for all of your sins by the enemy Satan and you are being placed into a “punishment pit.” Your accuser Satan is just about to begin whipping you and Jesus steps forward and says “I will take the punishment instead!” WOW!!! That is exactly what Jesus did on the cross. WOW AGAIN!!! FOREVER BLESSED WE ARE THRU FAITH IN HIS GIFT TO US!!! How incredible is He to us whom He loves, huh?!! He was stripped naked, blindfolded, bound up and beaten with fists, insulted, called a liar, slapped, spit upon. He had a crown of thorns beat into His head and mocked. And then He was flogged and whipped more, cursed at, betrayed and those He so dearly loved turned away from Him, rejecting Him, disowning and denying Him. Even God denied Him when He hung on the cross because at that moment He was representing sin of which God would have no part. Jesus was executed, crucified, and pierced in the side with a spear, and then given over to death for our sins!!! This is what would have happened to each of us if Jesus had not taken our place!!! Just before Jesus died only to rise up again, He said “It is finished.” HOOORRRAAAHHH!!! This was the greatest possible demonstration of God’s love for you and I both, dear one!!!
So given that precious gift thru our faith in Him, why would we think that we should add to what He has finished, or say to our Father, the gift-giver “Your gift was not good enough? It wasn’t 100% complete.” Oh we do not need to punish ourselves as His children of faith. God has all of our sin covered – past, present & future. There are well over 1,000 commandments in the New Testament alone and our flesh will continue to wage war to walk in obedience. The job of our punishment is done once and for all our sin! God died for all our ungodly ways. VICTORY DANCING IS APPROPRIATE HERE!!! YIPPEE!!! WOOOHOOO!!! 1 – 2 – 3 DIVINE CHA, CHA, CHA!!!
Now for the beautiful grace part of the story: Imagine again being in the place of punishment Satan wanted to put us thru. Oh I know it is not pleasant to think about, but it is important to understand what Jesus has done for us whom He loves!!! Jesus has gone through all the pain and suffering and death of what should have been ours and then suddenly, with a display of God’s power, Jesus is made alive again and from His words to us in John 3:16 and 1 John 1:9 He says “I died for you. You are forgiven – believe it. It is true!” SHAZAM!!! Imagine Him putting His arm around us and saying “I want you to journey this life on earth with My presence with you until we reach “home” with Me. I have a place prepared for you. I want you to be with me forever in my paradise kingdom!” TREASURE THAT THOUGHT DEAR ONE AND DON’T LET THIS ROB YOU OF THAT SWEET THOUGHT OF FATHER’S LOVE AND GRACE AS YOU JOURNEY!!!
As we are now walking with Jesus – His arm still around us protecting us and loving us, let us be on guard should Satan comes up and accuses us before Jesus by saying “but they did this and they did that!!!” We can be assured that God’s answer back to Satan will always be “My blood shed for them covers all of that!” This is exactly what God has said in Revelation 12:10-11. There it tells us that Satan, our accuser, is “overcome by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of our testimony.”
Let me ask you here: What is your testimony? Is it that you believe your sin has been covered by the blood of the Lamb (Christ)? Oh, I’m a gal trusting in Jesus’ love for me!!! Dear ones, we must remember truth when Satan accuses us, and that truth is that we are loved, forgiven and accepted by Christ thru our faith in Him and His performance on the cross. When God looks upon us, He sees us as righteous in Christ. “There is now no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus” (Romans 8:1). We are holy in God’s sight, without blemish, and free from accusation (Colossians 1:22).
It is through Christ’s sacrifice for you and me that we are viewed as righteous and His royal family who He loves!!! If we were able to live righteously enough by our own efforts, then Christ died in vain and that is not the case!!! Before the cross, Father assures us in His Word: Romans 3:10 says “There is no one righteous, not even one. In Romans 3:12 it says “there is no one who does good, not even one.” We are told in Isaiah 64:6 “all our righteous acts are like filthy rags.” Romans 3:20 says Therefore, no one will be declared righteous in His sight by observing the law, rather through the law we become conscious of sin (we see our need for Christ). He has rescued us from the law of perfect performance!!! YAY!!! WOOOHOOO!!! HE KNEW WE WERE POWERLESS WITHOUT HIM!!!
IT’S IN ME, TOO!!! 🙂
In Philippians 3:13, the apostle Paul says “Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it (Christ’s goal for him), but one thing I do: forgetting what is behind (Yes, Paul was a sinner become a saint thru faith in Jesus) and straining toward what is ahead. I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.” Lamentations 3:22-23 says “Because of the Lord’s great love, we are not consumed, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is His faithfulness.” Life is like a two-sided coin. On one side is our past which we cannot live over again. However, we can find forgiveness for our mistakes through Christ and gain wisdom from our evaluated experience. The other side of the coin of life is that we can choose how to live each day from now onward. Each day is new with new opportunities and His power living in us to live victoriously in bringing heaven to earth with Him in us and thru us!!! Now how exciting are those adventures to look forward to?!! Our future is bright with His light, love and empowering grace!!!
Oh let us put it behind us and press on the wiser from it!!! To keep it will only weigh us down in the divine race forward. LET’S LET WHAT IS OF THE ENEMY GO!!! Doing so with ya’s for Jesus’ heart for us all as His beloved!!! Divine love to you wherever you are!!! Smiling and happy with ya’s and inspired by this song here of Father’s unfailing, unconditional love and grace!!!
